This butterfly guide, designed for the David Suzuki Foundation’s Butterflyway Rangers in the Vancouver area, shows local butterfly species and which native plants are either hosts or food for these species. Images were carefully selected and sized to show enough detail to easily identify plants or butterflies. Departing from the table format used in earlier, similar pieces, this heavily visual design offers some visual interest and stylistic consistencies with the organization’s website. I drew upon my knowledge of local flora to ensure images appeared local if the geographic data was not available. I also made a point of including women photographers.
