"Veracity" (demo)
A design skills development exercise based on a real creative brief, this homepage for an alternative news site (fictional name) highlights a range of content within a complex hierarchy. Sophisticated but modern, the site is designed to engage a younger audience but retain its identity as a news site and not a blog. A focus on simplicity and clarity references a print-based layout, while contemporary type choices and other details provide a subtle homage to newspaper typography. Visual warmth was a key concern that created a balanced level of contrast.
About
I am a communication designer in Vancouver, BC. I design and develop websites and occasionally indulge in print design. I am currently on the Creative Services team at the David Suzuki Foundation where I have worked on a variety of projects to increase and engage supporters of DSF and to work towards achieving its vision that "within a generation, Canadians act on the understanding that we are all interconnected and interdependent with nature."
