afterTASTE
This first of two grad projects discusses the decline of the quality of food in North America. Topics include local food and environmental impacts. Responding to a lack of sensory engagement in conventional produce and supermarkets, the site incorporates highly colourful, saturated photography that gets intimate with its subjects. Warmth and directness is as important in the design as in the content, which is supported by quotations from respected authors. Positive language is used to promote education, discussion, and action starting on a personal level. The site also features an interactive Flash-based children's game about where food comes from. This project offered a learning experience in how to keep static and dynamic content consistent through numerous site and blog pages. Built with Movable Type version 3.
AfterTASTE earned an Applied Arts Student Award in Interactive Design and exhibited in their accompanying exhibition, as well as the Emily Carr undergrad show.

I am a communication designer in Vancouver, BC. I design and develop websites and occasionally indulge in print design. I am currently on the Creative Services team at the David Suzuki Foundation where I have worked on a variety of projects to increase and engage supporters of DSF and to work towards achieving its vision that "within a generation, Canadians act on the understanding that we are all interconnected and interdependent with nature."
